Alot of patients who got hip revision applied in their hip cup replacement surgeries are learning that there are negative ramifications that far exceed the normal expectations for recuperation. These patients are feeling a lot of unneeded anguish for lengthier time periods, required to undergo revision surgical processes and elevated medical costs, and losing revenue by not physically being able to work at their regular jobs. Although Zimmer Holdings, Inc. is postulating that that their hip cup implant is in no way flawed and say it is not their fault for the faililng hip implants, several people are filing cases against them and accepting settlements.

In the month of October, 2008 Zimmer declared that it had set aside $47.5 million to compensate for lawsuits filed against them. Many MD’s are not convinced that the durom cup hip implant is is not the issue like the company has stated. As A Matter Of Fact, when Zimmer offered online training to doctors in order to teach them what they said were more correct methods for performing the implant surgical procedure, approximately half of the docs refused to take part. Therefore, the whole state of affairs stays on to be bothersome for all patients participating, but none more than the hundreds of patients who are looking forward to revision surgical operation because of the issues with their implant not staying secure in the socket.

These miserable poor people definitely deserve some assistance and compensation which is the main reason product liability lawyers are encouraging them to initiate lawsuits. dorum hip has been paying some of these claims, too. Nevertheless, even if the money they are being offered seems like a lot to them, in many cases implant recipients are deciding too fast and with no provision put in place for repeat troubles if they return. If they don’t wait to find out what an actual case is worth, people may find themselves incurring alot more expenses out of pocket when more medical issues exist or surface.

If your orthopedic surgeon tells you that youre going to need revision operation to repair your Zimmer Durom hip replacement device, contact an lawyer as soon as possible.

Once your lawyer realizes that you have a good case, be prepared to wait in order to get the best settlement that you could possible get. Pay close attention to the wisdom and advice that your attorney provides for you and do not rush the process including the restitution. This is the time to be patient and ensure the largest amount of money available to you.

Tech support tells me to type ‘regedt32′ as opposed to ‘regedit’ to access the registry from the command line (Start > Run). I question the use of ‘regedt32,’ but he says to do it anyway. Whenever I use the registry editor, I recall this incident and never look up the tale of the two regs… until now.

Regedt32.exe is an alternative registry editor available with Windows NT/2000 with features of its own. Regedt32.exe does not support importing and exporting registration entries (.reg) files. Regedit has limitations of its own as quoted here:

You cannot set the security for registry keys. You cannot view, edit, or search the value data types <>REG_EXPAND_SZ and <>REG_MULTI_SZ. If you try to view a <>REG_EXPAND_SZ value, Regedit.exe displays it as a binary data type. If you try to edit either of these data types, Regedit.exe saves it as <>REG_SZ, and the data type no longer performs its intended function. You cannot save or restore keys as hive files.

Research indicates regedit has:

  • a better search tool
  • bookmarking of subkeys
  • opens to last edited subtree, export and import capabilities
  • all keys are visible from a window similar to Windows Explorer

Regedt32 (pre-WinXP) can:

  • run in read-only mode
  • allows you to edit values longer than 256 characters (who wants to do that???)
  • displays subtrees in their own windows
  • modify access permissions to subtrees, keys, and subkeys

In WinXP and Server 2003, the two have been replaced by a new version of regedit that has features from both. Try typing ‘regedit’ and ‘regedt32′ to see what happens. They’re the same. To prove it, while in ‘regedit,’ select ‘edit’ and you’ll see ‘permissions.’ This is a feature that was only available in the old ‘regedt32′ and not ‘regedit.’

Technically, regedt32 is a small program that runs regedit. So when typing ‘regedt32,’ it takes you to ‘regedit.’ The destination is the same either way. So type whichever is easier for you to remember. Regedit is easier for me – I had to play with the spelling of the other version until I got it right.

Now I remember that tech support was checking to see if the permissions were properly set and that was why we used ‘regedt32.’ However, someone forgot to update the script or tell him that it didn’t matter anymore when a user had WinXP. Tech support always asks what operating system at the beginning of the call, so he knew.

More registry editor resources: Microsoft has a knowledgebase article on the differences between the two. Windows IT Library has a feature comparison chart dated 2000, so it’s way old, but it will satisfy curiosity. Here’s a list of registry editor alternatives for those who wish to try something different. For tweaks, tricks, and hacks, check out WinGuides’ Registry Guide for Windows.

The OECD has predicted that the European top 655 snowboarding domains perhaps will be decreased to 405 by 2050. Costanzo Li Fonti stated that ski resorts will hurt earlier than that, not from a want of precipitation simply due to a general contraction in buying ability associated with the cost of crude oil. And what about climate change? Scientists have exhibited that a twofold increase of CO2 levels will raise floor temps by 4 – 7 degrees Celsius. All the same there are still some unanswered questions. The rate of global warming and the aftermath on climate. A couple degrees warming in the last 100 years has not been seen in the last million yrs. During the conclusion of the last ice age 19000 yrs ago the increase of 4 degrees Celsius was over of seven to eight thousand years. Prior to that Risoul and Isola 2000 were under thick ice and Araches-la-Frasse would have been similar to the Arctic.

Thus what is the future for low mountain skiing towns domains? Fuel problems will begin to be experienced by 2013 to 18, resulting in increased costs for Chamonix chalets, ski taxi businesses and skiing lift businesses alike. One half of the economy depends upon oil and France buys 90 percent. The present total is 4 percent of GDP. However if the price of crude steps up as expected it will comprise 38 percent of GDP, one can guess the down turn. The European Alps will witness the cost of farming trade goods increasing, plant life species will change thanks to a adjustment in rain patterns. Lots of people will quit the region due to the summer months warmth. Hydro-power will be a valuable supply of power however it isn’t obvious whether it will be an advantage given that there will be a lot less precipitation, additional water in the wintertime and much less in the summer.

There’s a mind-boggling amount of cell phone plans and services available these days. Cell phone ads promising bigger, bolder and better features blare at us every day. The question then becomes, “Which plan is right for me?” In this article, I’ll give you tips on what to look for in a plan, what to ask your service provider and how to avoid common mistakes that new subscribers often make!

First, ask yourself “What do I want in a plan?” Finding the right cellular plan is just a matter of deciding what, when, where and how you plan to use your phone:

- Will you be using it only for emergencies, or to chat with friends or family often?

- Will you make most of your calls during the day, evening, or on weekends?

- Will your calls be coming from your local area, or will you phone while traveling?

- What is your monthly budget for telephone services?

Getting the Most Minutes for your Money

Cell phone plans often come with a pre-allotted set of minutes per month (which may or may not correspond with an actual “minute” of time depending on factors such as where you are when you make the call, calling a long distance number and so on).

When you use up your minutes, you may be faced with paying an overage fee or paying a higher amount for the extra minutes. With many plans, the minutes you don’t use do not automatically roll over to the next month. So if you only used 30 minutes out of your 90 minute monthly allotment, you don’t get to keep the 60 minutes you didn’t use that month. You simply start over at 90 again.

Some other important differences to note in cell phone plans (as versus traditional telephone service) that you’ll want to keep in mind when comparison shopping include:

- You may find that your minutes are used up for both incoming and outgoing calls

- Calling a toll free number can cost you minutes

- The actual amount of time you’ve spent on a call is usually rounded up. So if you spent 3 minutes and 5 seconds on a call, you may find that 4 minutes have been used.

- The clock starts ticking on your minute usage the minute you press the “Call” or “Send” button, not the moment the other person picks up.

Most cellular service providers have a special phone number or web site address where you can login to check the number of minutes you have remaining each month. Keep in mind though, depending on how often the accounts or web site is updated, the numbers may not always be current.

Long Distance, Dropped Calls and Roaming – Oh My!

When choosing a wireless plan, keep in mind where you’ll be using your phone most often. Some service providers have nationwide coverage, while others target a specific “home area”. If you make or receive a call outside of this area, you’re “Roaming”, and your minutes may run out faster or you may face an extra charge. Know the boundaries of your calling area – you could be charged for long distance and roaming on top of the minutes that are spent during the call!

If you have a set of numbers that you dial frequently (such as friends, family, doctors and so on), ask the wireless provider if the cell phone plan you’re interested in will work in those locations without accruing long distance or roaming charges.

What To Ask Your Service Provider

If you’ve got a handful of good plans you’re considering, these questions may help narrow down the field of choices:

- Can I use my minutes anytime? Can they be used during “peak times” or am I charged more during those hours? (peak times usually occur on weekends). When do “peak hours” start and end?

- How much extra am I charged if I go over my monthly allotment of minutes?

- How much will I be charged for long distance and/or roaming? (Some nationwide carriers do not charge for these services unless you call out of the country)

- What is your cancellation policy? What happens if I cancel early? Will I be charged a cancellation fee after my plan has been activated?

- Can I make any changes to my plan (such as increasing or decreasing the number of minutes) after my service has been activated?

- What other features are included on my plan? (such as voice mail, caller ID) and if not included, how much would they cost to add to my service?

Remember, get all of these answers in writing. That way, if you suddenly find a $100 Early Cancellation charge on your bill, and you have a written document that states that there is no early cancellation fee, you’ll have an easier time of disputing the charge.

If you have several plans you’d like to try out, ask the service provider if there is a grace period where you can cancel your service without being charged (or being charged only a small amount) if the service doesn’t meet your expectations. Chances are, many wireless providers will be eager and happy to help you compare plans. Just remember to read the fine print before you sign!

How to Point a Satellite Dish

In order to enjoy maximum results from your satellite dish, you need to be sure it’s receiving the best possible signal. Where you point your satellite then, becomes an all-important step in getting great reception. But how does one point a satellite dish?

In truth, pointing your satellite dish isn’t as hard as you might think, but you will need to know a few things:

Azimuth which refers to the horizontal measurement of a direction from North to East. In terms of your satellite dish, it tells you how far left or right your satellite should go.

Your altitude or elevation, gives your satellite dish its heading, telling it how far above the horizon it needs to go.

And finally, the polarization. Also known as the “skew”, Polarization refers to the adjustment needed for the curvature of the Earth. This rotational adjustment compensates for the Earth’s curvature between the dish and the beam of the satellite.

The good news is that you can usually find this information with the help of your satellite provider. DISH Network for example features a Point Dish/Signal option in their on-screen menu to assist you in the adjustment of your dish. Using your zip code, you can determine the azimuth, elevation and skew. Pointing your dish is normally part of the installation process so plan to do your install when you have time to follow through.

Your skew should be set before you mount your dish. Using the adjustment number from your service provider, rotate the dish horn to match the recommended coordinates.

With your azimuth and elevation numbers in hand, grab your compass and go outside. Standing close to your dish but at least one foot away, rotate your compass until the needle points North, or zero degrees. Starting from this point, locate the azimuth number on the compass and turn to face that point without moving the compass itself. East is 90 degrees, South is 180 degrees and West is 270 degrees. If your azimuth number is 240 for example, you would face a direction that fell between South and West on your compass.

Now that you’ve found your direction, estimate the angle of elevation. With the ground representing zero, calculate the distance going upwards using the elevation number provided by your provider. Straight up would be 90 degrees so if your elevation number was 45, your elevation would be halfway between the ground and looking straight up into the sky. Got it? Good… There’s your satellite!

Let’s imagine we are talking about a consult style sale for professional service, i.e. Chiropractor, Psychologist or Doctor where the client comes to you.

Below is a mini-script. Remember that each person that walks through the door wants to create a change in their life. They want something to get rid of their pain or discomfort. Most clients are just master procrastinators. It is your job as a professional to make it easy for them to make the decision today. Do not pressure them to make the decision, but don’t let them give up on the dream to change to soon. Of course if it is for medical services and it is an emergency very rarely is someone going to be concerned over the cost. That will happen when they get the bill.

Prospect: Do I need to make a decision today? (NO #1)

Sales Professional: No, this is a screening, evaluation or consult (use whatever term you are comfortable with.). The main purpose we see you prior to using our program(or service) is to determine if we can accept you. My only question is…how long are you going to put this off? You’ve already put it off for (??) years (or months). From my experience I’ve found that thinking about change doesn’t help you change. What more do you need to think about?

Prospect: Well a year (or what ever the term of your treatment is.) is a long time commit to. (NO #2)

Sales professional: One thing is for certain you have no problem with commitment. You’ve been committed to this problem for (??) years. How much more pain (discomfort or stress) do you have to experience before you make the commitment to rid yourself of it?

Prospect: Yeah, but ($????) is a lot of money. Or: Yeah, but I really should talk to my husband first. (NO #3)

Sales Professional: I understand. What we can do is take a deposit, get you on the schedule. If you go home and for any reason he/she won’t support you we will give you 100% of your money back. Rest assured you are already spending this money to keep the problem.

(If they pause…they usually do) continue with: Sue, if you don’t do this what are you going to do? Your best options haven’t worked for you. Your body is just the reflection of what your brain is telling it to do. If you don’t do this what are you going to do?

If she says no to this let her walk. My rule is to always get 3 no’s. Then I ask for the down payment to get them on the schedule* if they say no to that. I tag and release them. You want the prospect to leave on good note. That way your future follow-up will be received well.

* If you don’t expect payment in full for your service you can suggest you get them on the schedule. It has been my experience with out a money commitement they are not sold.

Travertine

Travertine is one of the most beautiful, versatile, and historically important stones. Its durability makes it highly useful in building applications, and it has been used in this manner since the Roman Empire.

Formation
Travertine is a form of limestone that is heavily compacted. Generally it is formed when minerals in streams or hot spring water become deposited on river beds and dry out. If the chemical composition has enough of the mineral calcium carbonate in it, then the result is considered to be travertine.

Coloration
In its purest form travertine is a very pale color, however imperfections in its structural make up, such as the presence of iron, can cause beautifully colorful banding to occur across its face. Different colors are caused by different minerals, and different shapes are formed in the stone dependant on how the impurity combines with its structure. Since the imperfections show up semi-randomly, no two pieces ever look exactly alike. It is however grouped into quarry names where similar strains of the marble taken from similar places are classified into categories.

Uses
Travertine is often used in counter tops, flooring, to resurface structures, and in cobble stoning. It is also used in a number of unique stone home furnishings. It is not as hard as quartzite, or as smooth as marble, although it can take a honed finish. Travertine is also available as Tufa, and as onyx, a semi translucent stone.

Travertine is mined heavily in Italy, the U.S. and turkey. Historically it was used by the Romans, Byzantines, and ottoman empires in their ancient architecture. Today it is widely used both indoor and outdoor and is one of the most versatile components available on the market. It is easy to maintain and clean, it is durable, reliable, and it doesn’t show dirt very much.

Previously, we have talked about using suitable greases for
different applications. Basically, we want to use low
temperature greases for low temperature applications and high
temperature greases for high temperature applications. The
reason is quite simple – we want the grease to form a thin film
of lubricating oil between the rubbing surfaces.

If we use high temperature grease for normal temperature
applications, the chances are the grease will still be in
semi-solid state and will not flow to cover the contact surfaces
of the moving components during operating conditions.

Assuming you have chosen the correct grease, how do you determine
how much you need to put into the bearing?

Excessive grease lubrication can easily cause overheating. The
grease gets churned around within the moving parts of the bearing
and has nowhere to go. The temperature rises. The grease becomes
the wrong temperature selection even though the application is
correct.

A general rule to follow is that the bearing should be filled
completely but the free space in the housing only partially. This
gives room for the grease to be ejected from the bearing on
start-up.

However, there is some grease, the so-called “totally-filled”
greases like lithium soap greases that can allow filling up to 90%
of the free space in the housing, without risk of a temperature
rise. This is because they are special. Their stability at high
temperatures is excellent and can be utilized over a wider
temperature range than sodium soap greases.

By filling up all the free space, impurities are effectively
prevented from entering and damaging the bearings and the
lubricating intervals can be extended.

For most other greases, the general rule applies.

Bearings can be divided into two categories – non-separable and
separable bearings. No matter which bearing type it is, the general
practice is to fill up the space between inner race, the outer race,
and the rolling components (ball or roller) on both sides of the
bearing. Because of its consistency, the grease should be able to
remain in place without dropping off. In this way, we can ensure
that the rubbing contact surface actually has grease on it.

For relubrication, how much is enough? The following formula gives
a good indication:

G = 0.005 DB

where,
G = grease quantity in grams
D = bearing outside diameter in mm
B = total bearing width in mm

By practicing proper lubrication, the bearings should be able to
last for a long time. However, bearings can still fail if it has
not been installed properly or for other reasons.

Until next time…
