Chamonix Haute Savoie France is found at the base of the majestic Mt Blanc in France and is often recognized as the mixed climbing and snowboarding centre of France. The town has been known for a long time as a veritable domain for extreme sports during both summer and winter. It held the first Olympics back in the early 1920s – furthermore it’s also a region of brilliant beauty proffering much to the snowboarder and tourist.
Differing from most purpose built ski resorts Chamonix is not a souless ski resort and has been largely saved from the brutalist architecture that litters a lot of the European Alps. It’s also worth visiting Chamonix and the alps in summer. Chamonix is fortunate to have not only an internationally renowned ski domain but a cosmopolitan and bustling town centre.
The town is big enough to insure there is plenty enough for the non-skier to see. However you choose to enjoy your vacation there is an activity to please everyone. From an impressive swimming and sports centre, ice rink, guided snowshoeing and weekly market; and lots of boutiques, terraced caf©s and clubs, it supplies a choice of activities, old town atmosphere and aprs ski, which few snowboarding areas can come close to. Go on and organise that ski holiday now.
