Plans have been unveiled for Liverpool’s largest commercial office development, ever proposed for the city centre. West Bay Capital are the Irish family owned form proposing the new fifty million pound project, which if given the go ahead, it hoped to begin by the end of the year.

West Bay believe the eighteen storey office buildings were “crucial to maintain the growth of the city’s commercial quarter”, planned to replace the current offices at 30, Pall Mall. The 225,000 square feet of office space would be build over two phases, the first taking two years to complete.

Funding is available, but a lot rests on pre letting certain proportions of the space beforehand. West Bay hoping to secure the Ministry of Justice contract, and provide a good quality and quantity of office space with modern flexible desk space for their office relocation, which will create 2,500 jobs.

This is not the first large project for West Bay Capital, who have already completed residential and commercial developments in Belfast, Dublin and the UK capital, London. Ashley Moore, company director stated that their company believes “Liverpool can become one of the UK’s premier business destinations”.

Two buildings will provide office space, car parking, restaurants and cafes. A covered courtyard has also been incorporated into the design. Moore believes that their Liverpool commercial district development is the only one of its kind to be able to meet Government requirements and it would be “a fantastic economic boost for Liverpool“.

Chairman of Downtown Liverpool in Business, a lobby group, Frank McKenna, believes the proposals marks a return of confidence in the city. Mc Kenna also feels that if the city is serious about attracting Government departments, it is essential to provide “good quality office space”. Something which West Bay Capital will be happy to provide.
